When it comes to auto collision repair, the question I always get is ” Will the paint match” Here are the steps we take to check color accuracy.
We take the color code from the vehicle, enter in into our paint software. It gives us the formula for this vehicle and possible alternates. The alternates are for possible color differences. (reasons for color differences will be covered another time) We spray test panels before the vehicle is painted to check accuracy. If there are differences we can “tint” the mixture to match the vehicle. If the mix is good, we paint the car.
Here are pictures of our mixing rack and a shot of a popular nissan color ky2 (pewtermetalic) The rack has different toners from solids to metallics used to create a color. As you can see in the formula color there are many toners used to make a pewter metallic.
